Below Tar, along the coast, is the cove of Tarska Draga, with a small fishing village and a fish restaurant. In the vicinity of Tar is the Lanterna peninsula, rich in Mediterranean vegetation, with a tourist village. Tar is located on the regional road Novigrad - Porec.

Istria is the biggest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. The peninsula is located at the head of the Adriatic between the Gulf of Trieste and the Croatia-Kvarner-Bay-_1-2.htm" target="_self">Bay of Kvarner. The region lies mostly in Istria county of western Croatia. The larger geographical features of Istria include the Ucka (Monte Maggiore) mountain in the east, the rivers Dragonja, Mirna, Pazincica and Rasa, and the Lim bay.
