Description
This house, located in Sv Petar u Sumi in central Istria, shares its garden with the house of your host family. Your privacy is protected by the large loggia, which is situated in the back of the house. When redecorating, the family paid special attention to keeping the authentic details intact, whilst equipping the house according to today’s comfort standards. Especially noteworthy are the beds in the loft. On top of the modern mattresses, the hosts have put traditionallymade Istrian mattresses. These consist of linen covers filled with dried cornleaves, which are subsequently covered in cotton sheets. Sleeping on these socalled “pajarica” has proven to be quite comfortable in the past. However, in case you are not entirely satisfied, you can simply remove it and sleep on a regular, modern mattress. Furthermore, the “pajarica” are newly produced, only the method in which they have been produced stems from long ago.

This unique part of Istria has a number of attractions - beautiful landscapes, remains of the cultural heritage from all ages (tower Citadel), exquisite specialities of Istrian cuisine: "manestra", sausages with cabbage, venison with gnocchi, "fuzi" (kind of pasta), "supa" (crisp bread in red wine, terrano, with olive-oil and pepper) and the famous wines, terrano and malmsey. Zminj is the traditional host of one of the most popular folk festivities in Istria, the so-called Bartulja (end of August), dedicated to St. Bartholomew, patron of Zminj.

Istria is the biggest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea.
