The island of Murter is the largest island of Sibenik archipelago connected to the mainlandland in Tisno. There are four settlements on the island: Murter, Tisno, Jezera and Betina. The first inhabitants of the island were the Illyrian tribes, the evidence of which can be found in remains of a Illyrian settlements "Colentum" near Betina.
